Yonkers resident Paul Overton, 36, has been convicted of second-degree assault after attacking a Westchester County Correction Officer in the county jail, Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. announced on Tuesday.
According to Scarpino, on July 19 last year, Overton assaulted the correction officer at the jail. After failing to comply with orders from other guards, Overton “intentionally caused injury to the officer by punching, biting and struggling with him.
Overton will face up to seven years in state prison when he is scheduled to be sentenced on March 13. He was initially behind bars for promoting prison contraband three years ago.
